Shaderball hero render with cotton material
Cotton material render from the shaderball scene.

Originally designed by Grant Warwick, this version of the shaderball was expanded by me into a more flexible look-development scene. I handled retopology and UV unwrapping of the shaderball, added multiple lighting setups and three camera positions, introduced a cloth element for fabric-material testing, and prepared scene packages for 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, and Houdini. The scene is intended as a practical material-development resource rather than a single finished artwork, with consistent geometry, cameras, lighting, and technical reference views that can be reused across different DCC applications.

Cameras
3 camera setups.
Lighting
5 lighting rigs.
Extra Geometry
Cloth element for fabric shading.
Downloads
Prepared for 4 DCC applications.

Material variations & close-ups

These sample renders show how the scene can be used across different material types and camera distances, from a broader fabric study to a tighter surface-detail evaluation.

UV layout and wireframe

These views show the technical structure of the asset, including the UV layout developed in Modo and the final wireframe representation of the shaderball geometry.
